How to Get the House You Want

So you have been searching for that perfect house.  You have seen 100 different ones, but none were exactly what you were looking for.  As you drive up to the next house you start to get butterflies in your stomach.  You open the front door and immediately know this is the one.

Now what?  You just want to board up the house and not let any other buyers look at it.  You tell your Real Estate agent to guarantee you can buy this house. Jen McKinnon, over at www.TwinCitiesRealEstateGal.com wrote a great post on to make sure you get that house.  Go check it out at Twin Cities Real Estate Gal.com.

Thanks for sharing this info Scott about Jen McKinnon’s blog. Learning how to “sweeten the deal” as buyer’s and as agents is crucial, especially in a multiple offer situation. Even though there are alot of homes for sale here in Minneapolis, we are seeing multiple offer situations. And this sort of information really will help out the consumer. Thanks again!

The Offer Conspiracy Theory

The Offer Conspiracy Theory(2)

I just had it happen again today.  Property has been on the market for 75 days.  I checked with the listing agent last night, no offers.  We wrote up an offer and I sent it in around noon today.  He writes me back at 2pm and says he now has 2 more offers.  What!?!#@%
This has [...]

Short Sale Terminology

Short Sale Terminology(0)

I got a great question from a long time reader, John Gall, today.  He asked:
When I look at the [other company's] site which I’m sure pulls from MLS I’m seeing the following status on the listings.  It would be interesting to have an explanation of why one is chosen vs another.  Some are obvious but [...]

Pre-Approved Short Sales

Pre-Approved Short Sales(1)

So, you read this siren call on the MLS listing that say “Pre-Approved short sale, quick closing possible”.  You get all excited; maybe this short sale will be different.  You get an accepted offer and 4 months later you are still waiting for that “quick closing”.  It happens to me all the time.  I have [...]
